HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - EVWD Board of Directors - 09/12/1961464 Aug. 22, 1961 LETTER - HOLCOMB A letter was received from Attorney Holcomb giving REPCRT ON OPINION his opinion as to the ruling on rates on unoccupied OF RATES FOR SEWER properties as follows: ON UNOCCUPIED PROPERTY WHERE "As long as a residence is connected to the sewer, CUR WATER IS NOT even though unoccupied, the monthly service charge is SERVED mandatory. For the District to waive these charges, it would be necessary to either amend the sewer ordinance providing that (1) unoccupied dwellings do not pay charges, even though connected, or (2) cause the sewer to be disconnected, or (2) cause the sewer to be disconnected." ~"~ To disconnect and reconnect the sewer would cost $85.03. UNEMPLOYMENT & The Chairman stated a State representative of the DISABILITY Department of Employment would be at the District office INSUP3U~E Wednesday morning, August 25 at 9:30 a.m. to explain the unemployment and disability insurance program as it would be available to this District for its employees. Directors were asked to be present if possible. ADJCURNMENT There being no further business, the Chairman declared the meeting a~ ourned at 9:35 p.m. Harold G. Directors Absent: None. Others Present: General Manager-Secretary, Rickert; Associate Engineer, Cole; Assistant Office Manager, Lyons; Engineers, Don Miller and 3oseph A. Rowe; represen- tatives of 3. P. S. Contracting Company, Inc.; Edmon 3. Vadnais, General Contractor and Ralph DeLeon Construction Company; 3chh Colley Insurance Agent; Attorney, Kenneth R. Henry. MINUTES Upon indication tbmt each Board member present had read the minutes of the August 22, 1961 meeting, and there were no additions or corrections, the President declared the minutes approved as written. The following sealed bids were opened and read by the Secretary: 1. Coughlin Company $11,594.60 2. Robert Simon, Cont'r. 8,991.40 Sept. 12, 1961 lutions, etc. when called upon. Also avail himself to Board members, General Manager and other employees and representatives of theDistrict for Consultation. Also represent no public agency or organization which would result in a conflict of interest with representation of the District. Attorney Henry stated he felt these cbnditions were acceptable. MOTION Upon motion by Director Littleton, duly seconded by Director LeVesque and carried unanimously, Attorney Eenneth R. Henry was retained as legal counsel for the District and asked to set forth the acceptable conditions in writing in addition to setting forth in writing the minimum fee schedule in straight litigation. Attorney Henry assured the Board the letter would be written as requested and that he was looking forward to pleasant relationship with men~ers of the Board and all members of the staff. RESOLUTION NO. 382 Resolution No. 382, a Certificate of Completion was CERTIFICATE OF filed by the Associate Engineer of the District cer- COMPLETION WATER tifying to the completion of ~ob No. W-337, Water main MAINS, TRACT 4815, and appurtenant facilities in Tract 4815, on August 15, fOB W-337 1961, in accordance with plans and specifications of the District. MOTION Upon motion by Director LeVesque, duly seconded by Director Wall and carried unanimously, Resolution No. 382, accepting /ob W-337, Robert Simon, Contractor, was adopted and the President and Secretary ordered to execute and record Notice of Completion. RESOLUTION NO. 383 Resolution No. 383, a Certificate of Completion was CERTIFICATE OF filed by the Associate Engineer of the District COMPLETION WATER Certifying to the completion of fob No. W-356, Water MAINS TRACT 6382 main and appurtenant facilities in Tract 6382 on OB W-356. August 16, 1961, in accordance with plans and specifications of theDistrict. MOTION Upon motion by Director Littleton, duly seconded by Director LeVesque and carried unanimously, Resolution No. 383, accepting /ob W-$56, Robert Simon, Contractor, was adopted and the President and Secretary ordered to execute and record Notice of Completion. RESOLUTION NO.' 384 Resolution No. 384, a Certificate of Completion was CERTIFICATE OF filed by the Associate Engineer of the District, COMPLETION WATER Certifying to the completion of 3ob W-357, water main MAINS TRACT 6436 and appurtenant facilities in Tract 6436, on August 22, 1961 in accordance with plans and specifications of the District. MOTION Upon motion by, Director LeVesque, duly seconded by Director Littleton and carried unanimously, Resolution No. 384, accepting 3ob W-357, Robert Simon, Contractor, was adopted and the President and Secretary ordered to execute and record Notice of Completion. RESOLUTION NO. 385 Resolution No. 385, a Certificate of Completion was CERTIFICATE OF filed by the Associate Engineer of theDistrict Certify- C(1MPLETION WA'£~ ing to the completion of 3ob W-359, Water mains and MAINS WATERMAN appurtenant facilities installed in Waterman Avenue AVENUE 4th to 3rd from 4th Street to 3rd Street, on 3uly 18, 1961, in b'I'REETS 3(]~ W-359 accordance with plans and specifications of the District. MOTION Upon motion by Director Littleton, duly seconded by Director LeVesque and carried unanimously, Resolution No. 385, accepting 3ob W-359, Robert Simon, Contractor, was adopted and the President andSecretary ordered to execute and record Notice of Completion.
