BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Directors of the East San Bernardino County Water District, San Bernardino County, California, as follows: ARTICLE 1. GENERAL PROVISIONS 1. Short Title. This ordinance shall be known and may he cited as the specifications for materials and jointing proce- dures for house connecting sewers of the East San Bernardino County Water District. 2. Separabili ty. If any section, subsection, sentence, clause, or phrase of this ordinance is for any reason held to be unconsti tutional, such decision shall not affect the validity of 1:he rema.ining portions of this ordinance. 3. Penalty for Violation. The failure of any person to comply with all or any part of this ordinance, shall eIr.pm~er the District with the right to disconnect any house sewers that are :Ln violation of any of the provisions of this ordinance. 4. Final Rulinq. All rulings of the Board of Directors I)f East San Bernardino County Water District shall be final. All :rulings of the General Manager shall be final unless appealed in '^Titing to the Board. When appealed, the Board I s ruling shall be final. ARTICLE II. SPECIFICATIONS AND PROCJmURES 1. The followinq materials and procedures shall be used .and followed on the installation of house connecting sewers with the East San Bernardino County Water District: (a) Pipe. Only the following types of pipe shall be used: (1) Vitrified clay pipe - Vitrified clay pipe -1- ,- Bhall be of one class, designated extra strength and shall be J:irst quality, durable vi tri fied, sound, of well-buI'ned clay 1~roughout its entire thickness, and must give a clear metallic ring when struck wi th a hammer. Pipe may be glazed or unglazed, bell and spigot pipe, of standard form and dimensions, and shall ~leet the requirements of the West Coast Standards of the Clay Pipe Institute. (2) Cast iron pilE - Cast iron pipe shall be "Pipe Centrifugally Cast in Metal Molds", conforming to the requirements of the American Standards Association's specifications 21.6. Cast iron pipe shall be furnished with bell and spigot ends. 2. The followinq iointinq procedures shall be used and j:ollowed: (a) Jointing vitrified clay pipeo Alternate No. 1. ,rointing material for bell and spigot on the joints shall be made wi th J. C. 60 corr.pound as supplied by the Atlas Mineral Products Company, or approved equal. Joints with joint compound shall be Dade in the following manner: The pipe shall be centered with ¡m inner pipe centering and ceiling ring or form, or the pipe Bhall be centered and caulked with a gasket of jute. (b) Jointing Vitrified Pipe. Alternate No.2. Vitrified Clay Pipe may be jointed by means of a pre-cast plastic joint, as manufactured by the Pacific Clay Products Company, trade named "Wedge Lock", or approved equal. (c) Jointing Cast Iron Pipe. The join1:ing compound or bell and spigot cast iron pipe shall consist of lead, poured and thoroughly caulked. The pipe shall be carefully fitted to- '"ether and shall be cleaned and dry before and during jointing. 'l'he joints shall consist of one size of one strand of clean, dry, 'twisted, jute, closely compacted by caulking so as to leave a depth of not less than 2 inches for the joints compound.
