WATER RATES The General Manager indicated that he had prepared several schedules reflecting proposed increases in the water rate. The ENR Construction Index has increased 48. This number represents the increased cost of materials for construction and repair of facilities. He also in- dicated that Southern California Edison has already increased their rate of 58 and it appears there will be two more similar increases for a total of 158 this year. He proposed and reviewed three alternative rate structures. These schedules as well as other alterna- tives were discussed in detail. Because the District's system is in need of substantial repair, it was indicated that a rate should be set that will enable some monies to be spent for repairs in order to maintain a top quality system. The General Manager will prepare additional alternatives for review at the January 23rd Board Meeting.
